The Board of Trustees of the UP Alumni Association – Iloilo Chapter paid a courtesy call to UP Visayas Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano. In a wide-ranging discussion of topics, the members of the UPAA – Iloilo Board of Trustees led by Vice President Gibs Navarra, shared with the Chancellor areas of collaboration with the University. In a similar vein, the Chancellor accompanied by Vice Chancellor for Administration Dr. Farisal U Bagsit also shared areas of need of the University where alumni could be of assistance.
Among the topics discussed was the construction of the proposed Balay sang Alumni. Trustee Marnie Fernandez-Manalac also presented to the Chancellor and Dr Bagsit, Hiliugyon, a flagship program of the Association. He stressed the importance of working directly with the Deans of the various colleges of UP Visayas to surface additional ideas and in the implementation of Hiliugyon. Chancellor Camposano shared the need of the University for assistance in providing for transportation of students in the Miag-ao Campus along the lines of the Ikot and Toki system of UP Diliman. Other areas of need included the installation of street signs within the campus and assistance with encouraging more high school students to take the UPCAT.
The fruitful visit ended with the mutual agreement to pursue collaboration between the University and UPAA – Iloilo and maintain an open line of communication.
